Come see first run movies in a theater and atmosphere specially set up for Autism spectrum movie lovers.
These movie dates provide a special opportunity for families to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment. The auditoriums dedicated to the program have their lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing! Saturday shows are generally at 10 am and Wednesday at 7 pm local time. Dates and films are subject to change. Check with your local theater to confirm.
Tuesday evening showings are not necessarily for young children, but may appeal to others on the autism spectrum.
Today: Inclusive Reading Club Virtual Please join us for a fun and interactive Inclusive Reading Club for teens and adults with intellectual/development disabilities.
These stories will be read aloud by the program coordinators. If you have your own copy of the selected readings and are comfortable reading aloud for a portion of the story, you are invited to so, but this is entirely optional.
This program will be held online via Zoom on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 10:30am.
To protect the privacy of participants, this meeting will NOT be recorded, and participants will be given the opportunity to change their displayed name for the meeting. To request an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act for library-sponsored events, please call 408-808-2000 at least three business days prior to the event. Chuck E. Cheese’s offers a sensory-friendly experience on the first Sunday of every month.
This special time will be two hours before the Chuck E. Cheese locations are open to the general public, usually 9 am – 11 am. During the summer the hours may change so as always, please contact the participating location.
In select locations, birthday parties can be coordinated during Sensory Sensitive Sundays events.
The Chuck E Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sundays Experience Includes:
Less crowding and noise.
All ages and siblings welcome.
Dimmed lighting.
Show and music turned off or down.
Limited appearances by Chuck E.
Food and games are offered, however parents are permitted to bring snacks for their children if needed due to dietary restrictions during Sensory Sensitive Sundays.
