Storytime is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities.

Storytime is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of reading and learning for all ages. This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers!

Easy Crafts with CHAC FRC | SJPL |Virtual

Today: * Virtual* Easy Crafts with CHAC FRC

Parents and children come together in an interactive class that is designed to help preschool & pre-kindergarten aged children develop skills needed to succeed in school. Each class includes songs, storytime, and an art project.

Please prepare your own materials for the virtual event: construction paper, colorful paper, white paper, scissors, glue/glue sticks, paper plate, markers/color pencils/crayons.

Racial Understanding, Social Equity, and Environmental Justice Symposium | SJPL |Virtual

Today: Virtual Racial Understanding, Social Equity, and Environmental Justice Symposium

Join teens from the nonprofit Youth Environmental Power Initative (YEPI) to discuss issues of race, social equity, and environmental justice.

Each week’s session will focus on one of the three main topics and allow time for discussion about these important issues.

Some sample questions that may be asked: Sharing of your own racial/ethnic background. At what age did you start to realize there are racial differences between people? Session 2: Social Equity: This session is aimed towards conducting honest and open dialogues to brainstorm creative and innovative ideas to mitigate the racial issues that occur within schools and communities. (Occurs in place of West Valley’s monthly Teens Reach meeting) Session 3: Environmental Justice: Connect previous discussions to environmental justice. Some questions to consider: What does environemntal justice mean to you? Why is it important? What environmental problems or environmental justice issues do you see in your community? Free.

Python Basics | SJPL |Virtual

Today: Virtual Python Basics

Village Square Branch Library presents this virtual program for children in 4th-6th grades who want to understand and unlock the extensive world of programming in Python and do not have prior experience working with programming.

Volunteers will help students learn about the basic principles of Python programming, including variables, control structures, and conditional operators.
