This year’s activities include live holiday entertainment, circus costumed characters, plus Santa and the Mayor of San Mateo. You don’t want to miss this holiday event!
Today: Downtown Ice in San Jose opens with a special ceremony to kick off a new season of outdoor ice skating and holiday festivities.
Enjoy special performances on and off the ice, appearances from Kristi Yamaguchi and other local dignitaries, and festive activities for the whole family.
Downtown Ice’s extraordinary circular rink provides a perfect setting for skaters who glide under the stars and twirl around 32 twinkling palm trees.

Oakland Zoo’s Glowfari Festival is scheduled for November 12-24, 26-30, 2021 | December 10 (CLOSED), 11-23, 26-31, 2022 | January 1-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29, 2023
Glowfari features hundreds of larger-than-life glowing animal lanterns throughout the Zoo.
This year’s experience features new displays including a walkabout through the land down under with kangaroos and koalas, icons of the California coastline including whales, otters, and jellies, exotic animals of the tropical rainforest, and a trip to the past with a towering t-rex and a megalodon shark tunnel!
Finish your experience with a ride on the train through a fantasy wonderland full of fabled creatures like fairies, unicorns, and more mythical beasts!
Make sure to visit Santa in the Rides Area Fridays – Sundays in November and every night December 1-23 from 6:00pm to 9:30pm (line closes at 9:15pm).

The family amusement area on Park Avenue, between Market Street and Almaden Boulevard, next to the Tech Interactive, offers a festive arcade of fun and entertainment.
Also, amusement rides will stretch down the Paseo de San Antonio between Market Street and First Street.
