Celebrate Earth Day with the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority in Coyote Valley!
Come celebrate Mother Nature and all you can do to help planet Earth at this special free event for the whole community! Take a walk up to the top of Spreckles Hill for breathtaking views of Coyote Valley, followed by arts and crafts, raw honey sampling from the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo apiary, activities to learn about water, and the opportunity to meet native plant garden enthusiasts. Hear from Open Space Authority General Manager Andrea Mackenzie and get inspired by our special guests from the local conservation community Activities begin at 10:00 a.m. Please arrive at 9:45 a.m. to allow time to park and check-in. Earth Day Celebrations in the San Francisco Bay Area

Our all-day event is meant to provide fun, safe, and special memories for the whole family that will foster and grow cherished connections between your family and the San Francisco Bay.

Discovery EcoVoyage 10 – 12 pm, 1 – 3 pm, and 3 – 5 pm Join us aboard the Robert G Brownlee, our 90′ research vessel, for an unforgettable SF Bay adventure! Help us set our fish trawl to uncover the various swimming species cruising beneath the waves.

Shoreside Discovery and BioBlitz 10 – 12 pm, 1 – 3 pm, and 3 -5 pm Dive into a world of scientific discovery as we embark on a mission to identify and document as many Bay species as possible within our collection area. By uploading our findings to iNaturalist, a renowned open-source database, we contribute to global scientific knowledge and policymaking.

Lunchtime Excitement ​ 12 – 1 pm Extend the fun with exciting lunchtime music and dancing! Pack a picnic lunch and hang out before or after your program. While you’re here, don’t miss the chance to explore our aquarium, where you can marvel at our baby leopard sharks, captivating flatfish, and shy rocky shore invertebrates, among other fascinating creatures.
