Why We Love the Home Depot Kids Workshops

There are so many reasons why we recommend the Home Depot Kids Workshops but here are just a few.

  1. Workshops are free and no need to reserve a spot in advance (but you should!).
  2. The projects are quick and easy (30 min), plus a different project each month.
  3. All the materials are there at the Home Depot event.
  4. This is a really fun parent and child activity.
  5. The workshops are a great foundation for working with tools.
  6. The dates are always the same. First Saturday of the month, plus the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is great if you have family in town.

Did you know that workshops, craft sessions, and cooking classes at local stores are a great way for your child to learn something new and have fun at the same time? Find other store events in the Bay area on our Store Events page.

If you can’t make the date, or find your kids outgrowing the workshop events, visit HomeDepot.com for more projects and DIY gift ideas that you can do at home.

What to Expect at a Home Depot Kids Workshop?

The Home Depot kids workshops are drop-in events. You can reserve a spot, but it is not mandatory. All materials are “while supplies last.”

Kids get a miniature Home Depot apron and a kit with instructions for the monthly workshop project. All the tools such as hammers, nails, paint, glue, and brushes are there at the Home Depot on communal tables.

After the project is completed, take the project to a Home Depot workshop ‘helper’ and your child will receive a pin (for their apron) and a certificate.

Have fun!

Rain or shine – no reservations needed. Click here to locate a Home Depot near you.

General Rules for Store Events: Minimum age for participation is 3 years. Event limited based on store capacity. Parents must stay with their child. Event is subject to change or cancellation without notice. While supplies last.

Do You Have to Register in Advance?

No, but you should. Registration saves a place for your kid(s), but it is not required. Grab your kit while supplies last! Each project takes about 30 minutes, so arrive early to fully enjoy the workshop.

Registration for the workshops opens (online) approximately 30 days before the event. For example, January 31 for the March event, and Feb 28 for the April workshop.
