Today: Rap As Storytelling© (In-Person) at East San Jose Carnegie Library

Hosted by the East San Jose Carnegie Branch Library. Join us and Veronica Talton, performing arts educator in the Bay Area, as she presents Rap As Storytelling©. Her presentation explores the evolution of West African oral traditions which led to the creation of the genre of rap and the widely embraced hip hop culture. Musical artists and listening samples across several decades will be examined by attendees. It seeks to overcome access barriers in San Jose by featuring African American artistic achievements. Recommended for grades 3 to 8. Safety Guidelines will continue to be updated on this page.
