Our all-day event is meant to provide fun, safe, and special memories for the whole family that will foster and grow cherished connections between your family and the San Francisco Bay.
Discovery EcoVoyage 10 – 12 pm, 1 – 3 pm, and 3 – 5 pm Join us aboard the Robert G Brownlee, our 90′ research vessel, for an unforgettable SF Bay adventure! Help us set our fish trawl to uncover the various swimming species cruising beneath the waves.
Shoreside Discovery and BioBlitz 10 – 12 pm, 1 – 3 pm, and 3 -5 pm Dive into a world of scientific discovery as we embark on a mission to identify and document as many Bay species as possible within our collection area. By uploading our findings to iNaturalist, a renowned open-source database, we contribute to global scientific knowledge and policymaking.
Lunchtime Excitement 12 – 1 pm Extend the fun with exciting lunchtime music and dancing! Pack a picnic lunch and hang out before or after your program. While you’re here, don’t miss the chance to explore our aquarium, where you can marvel at our baby leopard sharks, captivating flatfish, and shy rocky shore invertebrates, among other fascinating creatures.

Spend the day enjoying the recreational opportunities and working waterfront at the Port of Redwood City–food & beverage booths, musical entertainment, kids activities, arts & crafts booths, informational booths, tours, etc. Admission and parking are free!

Plan your day at PortFest! Families, children, adults, and all will enjoy learning about the Port through a fun day full of activities! Enjoy activities like:
Kid zone:
- Face Painting
- Get your face painted with fun designs like pirates, mermaids and sea creatures.
- Face painting is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Redwood City Library
- Marine-themed story time and crafts
- Enjoy hourly story time sessions with sea-themed stories, followed by ocean-inspired crafts.
- Story time starts at 11 a.m. and runs every hour until 2 p.m.
- Inflatable Slides
- Frisbee Spin Art
- Create your own unique frisbee designs using vibrant spin art.
- Fishing Pool
- Test your fishing skills in the kiddie fishing pool near Spinnaker Sailing. Catch fish and win a marine animal-themed building set.
- Touch-A-Truck
- Explore real-life vehicles like a fire engine, police car and construction trucks from Cemex.
- Complete the Touch-A-Truck Passport to win a vehicle-themed building set.
- Video Game Truck
- Kids can hang out and play fun video games in the Kids’ Cool Game Truck
- Visit from S.J. Sharkie, the official mascot of the San Jose Sharks at 11 a.m.
