Great America Winterfest 2023

WinterFest brings holiday cheer to California’s Great America as the park is magically transformed into a winter wonderland and holiday festival through Jan 5, 2025. Guests can ice-skate in front of the iconic Carousel Columbia, take in the dazzling sights, sip on crafted hot chocolate and marvel at spectacular live shows.

Enjoy the tree lighting every evening and a special visit from Snoopy!

With more than 30 rides and holiday attractions, such as sending letters to the North Pole, checking out Santa’s workshop and baking cookies in Mrs. Claus’ kitchen, and all the scrumptious holiday fare at numerous dining locations—WinterFest has something for guests of all ages and appetites.

This amazing event features millions of lights, creating a Christmas event for the entire family. Select Nights through Jan 5, 2025.

    • November 28 – Tree Lighting and In Memoriam
      Kick off the holiday season with the annual tree lighting ceremony, a festive Coastside tradition that brings the community together in celebration. Watch as the biggest tree yet is illuminated with sparkling lights, and kids are invited to hang handmade ornaments. This joyful event is the perfect way to embrace the holiday spirit!

    • December 19 – Elf Movie and Spaghetti Feed
      Gather the family and head to Jupiter & Main in the Cunha’s Country Store parking lot for an outdoor screening of Elf, the beloved holiday classic starring Will Ferrell. Bundle up, bring your blankets, and enjoy this festive outdoor movie experience. Don’t miss the fun “Buddy’s Breakfast Spaghetti” eating contest, with a prize for those who tackle the sugary dish!

    Cinderella by African American Shakespeare

    Enjoy the laughter this holiday season with the African-American Shakespeare Company’s original production of Cinderella.

    Delighting audiences for over 20 years, this heartwarming production of the lowly scullery maid who doesn’t know her own value. Only when a special invitation to the palace arrives, does Cinderella begin to dream of something more, but her stepmother and (oddly masculine) stepsisters have different plans for our heroine.

    Dreams do come true… with the help of a sassy fairy godmother who can make the magic happen. A side-splitting comedy that will have all ages with tears of laughter in their eyes and warmth in their hearts this holiday.

    Marian’s Note: Cinderella by African American Shakespeare is a Christmas tradition in our family.  I recommend this show for families of all ages, even my teen daughter loves the show!  Take my advice and go!  I can’t recommend this production highly enough.

    What is the Dress Code?

    We have enjoyed dressing up for Cinderella. When my daughter was younger, she enjoyed wearing her princess dresses to this show and taking photos with the cast members are the show.
