Free Home Depot Workshops – DIY for Adults

Home Depot Kids Workshop are free “How-To” clinics designed for children ages 5-12.

Each month Home Depot hosts 3-4 adult workshops. Including 1 each month just for women (How to create a Sofa Arm Table).

Workshops are FREE But Reservations Required. There may also be a cost for materials for a project.

#IVoted Video Competition | Deadline to Enter September 6, 2019

SCCOE is sponsoring a video competition to help motivate young people in our region and beyond. The winning videos will become part of an educators’ tool kit for High School Voter Education Weeks and shared online to help inspire future voters and motivate eligible voters.

Who can enter: junior and high school-aged students in Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties. Students can enter as groups or individually in two grade-level categories: 6-8 and 9-12. Students/teams will create a video based on the prompt, “Why is voting important?”

Deadline to enter: September 6, 2019

Kids Gardening Summer Contest

Show us your green thumbs and growing gardens!

For gardeners of all ages, snap a photo and upload it to be entered to win. Photos can be entered into one of the following four categories:

Kid Gardeners – Photos of kids gardening outdoors or indoors.

Kid Garden Activity or Lesson – Pressing flowers? Making seed balls? Show us a garden activity or lesson in or out of the garden. More categories and info on the site. [LINK]

Did you know that you can visit Martinelli’s in Watsonville for FREE apple juice samples?

Last week, I had a great time visiting their company store and Tasting Bar. It was great to look at the history of Martinelli’s, which is over 150 years young but the most fun was…..

tasting their sparkling apple ciders and juices. So many more than what we can find at our local supermarkets. We tried at least 10 different flavors, including their organic line.

Stop by any time. Samples are free and there are always flavors on sale (as much as BOGO Free).
