Chinese Nutcracker
November 7, 2026 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
A Chinese version of the Nutcracker performed by the New Century Dance/US Chinese Dance Association. Nutcracker in China – Year of the Horse – presents a captivating story told through a blend of ballet and Chinese dance.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, a young girl named Jasmine dreams of the legendary woman warrior Hua Mulan, the beloved characters of the classic Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber, and the exquisite imagery of Tang Dynasty statuary and paintings from the famous Buddhist caves of Dunhuang.
Marian’s Note: I have seen this production. It does not come to the Bay Area very often. I recommend it for the the beautiful costumes and seeing the Nutcracker in a new way.
