Let’s look at the Sun, Moon, and Stars – Live Event – Virtual STEM with Bit Project
This workshop is hosted in Pacific Standard Time (PST) – and it’s Hands On!

Welcome to Looking at the Sun, Moon, and Stars, a virtual STEM project brought to you by Bit Project and Microsoft Silicon Valley.

How do objects in space move? Throughout this activity, students will understand that the sun, moon, and stars move in a pattern. Students will create a sundial to observe these patterns. They will also learn about the phases of the moon and how the moon also orbits the Earth in a pattern.

For this activity you will need the following items at home:

• 1 paper plate
• 1 printout of the sundial template –
• 1 straw Tape or glue
• Scissors For Phases of the Moon
• Flipbook: 2 sheets of white printer paper
• 1 pencil or pen
• A stapler with staples
• 1 black coloring pencil or crayon
• Optional for decorating: coloring pencils or crayons
