Free Shakespeare in the Park San Jose

Free Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Silicon Valley Shakespeare begins its annual Free Shakespeare in the Park series with its fresh twist on  A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Bring your family, friends, a blanket and a picnic to enjoy free professional theater in a beautiful park setting! A Midsummer Nights’ Dream is a family favorite because whether or not you can follow the plot, there are lots of funny scenes and characters. Admission is free.

Midsummer Night’s Dream will be at Willow Street Park, June 7 – 23, 2019 (Thursdays – Sundays)  at 7:00pm

A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows the misadventures of four young lovers, a group of aspiring actors, and a team of mischievous fairies as they all enter the woods outside Athens on a summer night. Love is even more complicated when you add magic! While the king and queen of the fairies, Oberon and Titania are quarreling, Oberon’s right-hand sprite, Puck, is ready for mischief… and with humans such as the young Athenian lovers running about and the troupe of amateur actors trying to rehearse a play for the Duke’s nuptial day in the middle of the fairy’s forest, it couldn’t be easier. Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s all-female cast presents this family friendly comedy full of whimsy and wonder for FREE in Willow St. Park!

In connection with a new partnership between SVS and Montalvo Arts Center (MAC), a 6:00p.m. performance of Midsummer is also scheduled for July 14th at MAC in Saratoga.

How to Enjoy Shakespeare in the Park

  • 4) Bring a good attitude.
  • 5) Don’t get hung up on the dialogue but instead try to enjoy the entire performance.

And lastly, go, just go and have fun!
