Raging Waters is hosting a job fair on Saturday, May 8, 10am-1pm for Lifeguards and Security. Lifeguards will be certified and trained on site by instructors. Free parking will be provided.

Raging Waters is looking to hire approximately 300 people this year in departments such as Aquatics, Food & Beverage, Security and more.

The jobs will include great perks like free admission, flexible work schedules, and a starting salary of $17.

A really great perk for new and returning team members is a complimentary 2021 Basic Season Pass for themselves and up to three members of their immediate family. To be eligible, applicants must complete the hiring process by May 23, 2021.

How to describe the SVCC? Imagine the Woz inviting 60,000 of his coolest friends to come to downtown San Jose for a 3 day party celebrating science, sci-fi, tech, nerdiness so far off the charts as to be immeasurable, and just plain fun?

Silicon Valley Comic Con Featured Family Fun

Here is a list of events and attractions specifically for families at the Comic Con.

SVCC also offers a STEM lab and a Kids’ Zone and NASA’s floor exhibition, including the Mars Curiosity Rover model, jet packs, VR/AR, self-driving cars, and future cities. Dr. Yvonne Cagle (Astronaut and an advisor for NASA’s Flight Opportunities Program) is scheduled for a guest appearance.

Besides the celebrities and panels, the Expo offers a great time to meet and greet artists, purchase show and comic merchandise, beautiful crafts, jewelry and books.

In 2015, the Silicon Valley Comic Con, broke attendance records at the San Jose Convention Center, so get your tickets in advance and get in on the fun as soon as possible. [LINK]

What Else is there to do in Downtown San Jose:

Take a break at the Tech Interactive (use Discover and Go for a discount).  Check out the BodyWorlds Decoded and the IMAX Theater.  If you just want a short break, take your kids to the kinetic sculpture outside the Tech.  The sculpture is so large it uses billiard balls. If money is tight, use Open Access for free admission to the galleries.

Visit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library.  Ask for an information pamphlet at the Reference Desk.  Spend some time looking for Alice in Wonderland door (in the elevators) and the Wise Cracks window.

Children’s Discovery Museum:  Get for kids ages 4-10.

Plaza de Ceasar Chavez: Several events from the SVCC will be held at the park.  If it is a hot day, the fountain may be on for cooling off.

Reptiles
Snakes, turtle, and spiders, oh my! Our reptile exhibit offers you a hands on learning experience with a wide range of reptiles.

Bees
Enter our hex building that is buzzing with information about pollinators and our friends the bumble bee. Even get to tastes some local honey!

Paul The Parrot
Performance will include magic, juggling, puppets and ventriloquism. Meet and greet will include interaction with guests and photo ops.

Alphabet Rockers – August 3 at Christopher Park
GRAMMY-nominated Alphabet Rockers make music that makes change. They inspire American kids to stand up to hate and be their brave and beautiful selves. Free with the Fair admission ticket.

DockDogs – August 1 at Pavilion Grass
DockDogs is the fastest growing sport on 4 legs. Participate or view it all in the 27,000 gallon pool where the show takes place. Remember for your dog to participate you must register in advance of show.  Free with the Fair admission ticket.
