Interested in submitting to this years Spring Into Poetry Contest? Join us for a one hour writing workshop that can help you get started. Hosted by the Educational Park Library’s Family Literacy Center specialist Ulises Palmeno, topics covered will include: An overview of the judging rubric used for the contest poetic forms (sonnets, blank verse, free verse…) poetic devices diction and syntax aims and goals of poetry There will be time to write, share and discuss. This workshop is geared towards attendees ages 12+ However parents with younger aged children are welcome to attend with their child. This program will be hosted in person as well as virtually. Please register to attend virtually and a meeting invitation will be emailed to you prior to the start of the program. Create Your Own Comic Adventure for Kids | Evergreen Lib

Today: Create Your Own Comic Adventure for Teens: A Guided Comic Making Game (In-Person) at Evergreen Library

Get ready for the Graphic Novel Making Contest by trying out your on-the-fly comic making skills with this in-person, guided, solo game.

Based on the “fast and furious” drawing game, Mangaka, you will follow three basic rules, pick a theme set, and draw the start of a comic with two panels. Then in each new drawing phase, continue the story with more themes and even more panels. Each drawing phase is only five minutes so each new phase means you’ll have to draw even quicker than before.

All participants will score their own comics at the end of each phase and will have the opportunity to share.

Supplies needed:
Mangaka Solo Game Pages or 4 pages of blank paper
Pencil & Eraser or Pen
