Celebrate the magic of the Autumn Moon Festival with a fun-filled day perfect for kids and families! Discover Chinese and Vietnamese traditions as you explore the joy of giving thanks to the moon and the harvest season. Watch an exciting lion dance performance by Yun Yee Tong, get hands-on by making your own playdough mooncake, and enjoy a special video presentation all about the festival playing throughout the day.

Art and music lovers can visit the San Jose Museum of Art free as part of the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. Enjoy the music as jazz choirs, bands and ensembles from the Bay area “Wow the Crowd” for free! Concerts are scheduled from 12 – 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Are you interested in learning about the world’s most famous slug, or do you just want to make a silly hat? Stop by the Uvas Canyon County Park amphitheater for a nature pop-up where you can learn some fun facts about how banana slugs benefit their habitat and take home a craft. All ages are welcome.
Reservations are not required for the program. Vehicle fees will apply. Uvas Canyon County Park vehicle entrance reservations are required for day use and annual pass holders seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Today: Virtual Junior Ranger Session. Registered participants will join Park staff, via Zoom (a video conferencing platform), to learn about the nature and history of our parks while becoming a Virtual Junior Ranger.
Discover how to keep our parks healthy and what kids can do to protect them in a fun online adventure. A series of six virtual sessions will explore a variety of park topics. Your child will need access to an internet-connected computer or Smartphone to participate. Those who attend at least three sessions will earn a Junior Ranger certificate and badge. Participants will also be invited to an optional in-person Junior Ranger Family Day event on Saturday, August 23, 10-11:30am (location released to registered participants). Registration is required. Email interp@prk.sccgov.org for more details. Best for ages 7-12 and FREE.
