Guys and Dolls

July 18, 2025 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Guys and Dolls performed by the Los Altos Youth Theater.

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the strait-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but even-tually everyone ends up right where they belong.

CMTSJ Once Upon A Mattress

April 24, 2025 @ 7:00 pm 9:30 pm

CMT Rising Stars presents Once Upon A Mattress at Montgomery Theater in San Jose.

Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all, a princess is a delicate thing.

CMTSJ Rock of Ages: Teen Edition

February 28, 2025 @ 7:00 pm 9:30 pm

CMT Mainstage presents Rock of Ages: Teen Edition at Montgomery Theater in San Jose.

It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Welcome to one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where rock star Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and makes rock and roll dreams come true. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes).

But the rock ’n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.

Recommended for Rating: Ages 13+. Run Time: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
