Today: Free Kids Fishing Derby at Antioch Pier.
The annual Kids Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, August 10th. The derby is for children up to age 15 and registration is FREE. This is a “catch and release” derby so children will be assisted to release the fish after they have been logged.
Registration and check-in is from 8 AM – 9 AM. The Derby runs from 9 AM – 11 AM, followed by complimentary snacks and awards.

Today: Free fishing for kids at Waldie Plaza & Antioch Fishing Pier.
Sign up to be part of the annual free Kids Fishing Derby held in the memory of Antioch resident “Compy” Compomizzo who inspired the mission statement: “Get kids hooked on fishing, not drugs or gangs.”,
The fishing derby provides the opportunity to teach kids fifteen and younger conservation and the basics of fishing competition that may spur an interest in future events.
Register the day of the event to join in on this exciting afternoon filled with great catches!
**If you have your own fishing poles, please bring them. For those that do not have fishing equipment, there will be poles for you to borrow. This event is made possible through the great partnership between the California Striped Bass Association, West Delta Chapter and the City of Antioch Recreation Department.

Today: Fishing in the City at Scottsdale Pond in Novato.
This event is geared towards children ages 6-15 years old, and all participants must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants must complete a 45-minute Learn-to-Fish clinic that features educational displays and mini workshops in order to borrow bait, tackle, and rods. Once they have completed the clinic they may fish until 12pm.

The Fishing Clinic is intended to teach participants how to fish. They will learn basic skills such as: casting, knot tying, putting a worm on the hook, safety, and watershed education. Link for registration.
