Marian’s Notes

Thank you to everyone who took me up on the free tickets to Monster Jam last weekend!  It is always fun to meet the families that make up the CelebrateFamily community.
Your comments and critiques are appreciated.
Thanks again,
Candytopia Opens in San Francisco

(Dai Sugano/Bay Area News Group)
Candytopia is an outrageously interactive candy wonderland that transports guests to an imaginative confectionary world with a one-of-a-kind full sensory experiences-you can expect larger-than-life installations inspired by pure, sugary bliss throughout Candytopia’s dozen unique rooms, along with candy samples and lots of fun surprises.

Candytopia celebrates the vibrant colors and flavors of our favorite sugary delights across over a dozen environments, from flying unicorn pigs to a marshmallow tsunami. Bring your family, your friends, and your sweet tooth for an experience like none other!

Candytopia is open now until November 30 in San Francisco, just off the Powell Street Bart Station. Tickets are $26 -$34.  More info and tickets.

Marian’s Note:  Candytopia will be here for Fall Break for San Jose and Thanksgiving Break!

Contest: Create your own PSA video about Mental Health – Girls 18U

October is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Kaiser Permanente is working with WorldWideWomen to shine a light on mental health during the 2018 annual Girls’ Festival.
Girls 18 and under can enter the contest by creating their own 30-60 second public service announcements (PSAs) offering a message of hope and support to those living with mental health challenges.
Five finalists will be chosen to show their PSA videos on the Main Stage at the Girls’ festival on October 6th. The winner will receive $500 and the four finalists will receive $200 each! All five finalists will receive 10 free tickets to the WorldWideWomen Girls’ Festival to invite their friends and families.

Deadline to enter is September 14th. Click here to learn more and to see the other contests.

Go Free To Museums When You Want To -Discover and Go

One of the things that I love about Discover and Go (free museum and attraction passes/discounts) is that you don’t have to wait for a Free Day! You can go when you want to or when you have guests in town.  So if you haven’t checked out Discover and Go, do it now.  Several Bay area school districts will have their first vacation at the end of September.   Also as school begins, some of the locations will be great resources for homework and projects.
Discover and Go has expanded to most of the libraries in the Bay area and also Southern California too.  Here are your links for more info.

Discover and Go Partners/Venues: This list changes depending upon which library system you use, but the list is impressive!
