Free tickets are available now for student matinees for Opera San Jose. Attendance at evening dress rehearsals are free to K-12 students and their teachers/chaperones that accompany them.

| Free Summer Food Program at San Jose Public Libraries |
San José Public Library is excited to provide a 9-week summer meal program in collaboration with the library’s Summer Learning program. Seven branch libraries will host the Free Summer Food Program from June 11 to August 10, 2018. The Library has partnered with several organizations to help fuel San José’s children and teens’ futures through healthy meals and fun activities. For more information, click on this link.
Who Can Participate? Any person 18 years and under can stop by a participating SJPL location and receive a nutritious meal, during the summer, while also enjoying recreational and learning activities to keep their bodies and minds active. Locations and Schedules

Program Kick-off Event
Everyone is invited to join us for a special kick-off celebration on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Educational Park Branch Library. The event will begin with a storytime featuring Q from the San Jose Earthquakes followed by opening remarks from Mayor Sam Liccardo, Councilmember Lan Diep, City Librarian Jill Bourne, and YMCA CEO Sandy Berlin Walker. Why Should Students (and Parents) Attend College Fairs?
Read an exert from my Silicon Valley Mom post “ College Fairs in the San Francisco Area” College Fairs are a great way to connect with a large number of colleges in the least amount of time. Our favorite result of attending college fairs is that we (my son and I) felt that colleges were chasing us as opposed to the other way around.
Another advantage of registering at a college fair is that your child’s information (should you choose this option) is shared with colleges throughout the US so colleges that are looking for students that fit your child’s profile will get your information and can then contact you/them. In this way, your child can learn about schools that they may not have initially considered. So your child should register for the fairs even if they cannot attend. Click here to view the entire post
