Calabazas Branch Library hosts: Student Astronomy Club presented by the Astronomy Club at Harker High School

The intended audience is 9-15 years old.

We’re looking to get younger students interested and involved in astronomy through a variety of hands-on activities like physical experiments or demonstrations with associated lessons meant to be engaging and interactive. The style we are aiming to achieve is mini-workshops and simple lectures with pre-planned presentations, to integrate conceptual learning in astronomy with engaging activities.

We expect our attendees to learn more about the basic concepts of astronomy, from constellations to asteroids. To measure our outcomes, we will create mini-quizzes, like Kahoots or Quizlet Live, and “test” their knowledge that they should’ve learned from the lecture.

Only 1 sign-up needed per family. If you sign-up, you’ll be signed up for each session. No-shows will be removed to accommodate new sign-ups.

Presented by: The Harker High School Astronomy Club
Audience: Pre-Teens, ages 10-12, Teens, ages 12-18 Source
