In this free one-hour intro to JavaScript virtual workshop, students eight and older will have fun programming using Microsoft MakeCode.

In this free one-hour intro to JavaScript virtual workshop, students eight and older will have fun programming using Microsoft MakeCode.

Presenters Nicholas (a high school NASA Intern) and Robert (a high school FRC Team Software Lead) of ChildrenGiving.org will be using Microsoft MakeCode to teach the fundamentals of JavaScript while creating a short virtual music and light show. By the end of the workshop, students will have:

  • Programmed a custom light and music show using REAL JavaScript
  • A greater understanding of programming concepts such as variables and loops
  • The ability to create and program their own projects in JavaScript

Students should be able to access makecode.adafruit.com before the workshop starts. No account is required. We look forward to seeing you at the workshop!

Audience: Ages 8-12


  • This event is online. Review the event description and requirements in advance.
  • For those under 18 years of age who may be joining, it is recommend that a parent/legal guardian be with you during the meeting.
