The San Mateo County History Museum hosts several family friendly events throughout the year. Here is a sampling.
Family Past Times is a fun-filled exploration of history featuring arts, crafts and hands-on demonstrations at the History Museum. Happening throughout the year, these events reflect holidays or the themes of exhibits.
Lunar New Year: The History Museum will join in Redwood City’s annual celebration of the Lunar New Year. Join us for this Asian celebration of change. The free event includes performances on Courthouse Square.
Maritime Day: Held together with STEAM Fest on the Square, Maritime Day features crafts and activities in celebration of the exhibit Charles Parsons’ Ships of the World.
An Old-Fashioned Fourth: Celebrate an Old-Fashioned Fourth! Watch the Redwood City Parade. Then, come inside the History Museum to churn ice cream and make Independence Day crafts such as flags and pinwheels.
Victorian Days: At Victorian Days, discover what life was like in the 1800s through craft activities and a Victorian tea. The event is sponsored by Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation.
Día de los Muertos: The History Museum joins with Casa Círculo Cultural to present Día de los Muertos, There will be craft activities for kids in the Rotunda. In Courtroom A, members of the community will create a Festival of the Altars.
Holiday Traditions: The History Museum joins in Redwood City’s Hometown Holidays celebration. Inside the museum, kids can make crafts related to Holiday Traditions from Around the World. There are also free pictures with Santa.
