Design Thinking (Economics) | SJPL | Online
August 10, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 1:00 pm, repeating until August 13, 2020
Bascom Branch Library presents The Design Thinking Summit, a 4-day virtual event hosted by the Economics Education Initiative (EEI).
While Design Thinking has often been seen as a buzzword, the EEI seeks to teach its iterative process of thought that will allow students to empathize with, ideate, and create sustainable solutions to any problem they encounter.
The first day of the workshop will feature a guest speaker, with experience in social entrepreneurship and innovation, who will talk about his/her journey and hold a question and answer session with students. The following days will be a combination of instruction and hands-on, collaborative activities, including a full-fledged design thinking simulation. Each day will be approximately 90 minutes in length.
This workshop will be held on 4 consecutive days, Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13 from 1pm to 2:30pm. If students are unable to attend all 4 sessions, please consider not enrolling. Important: please email Lisa Molson at firstname.lastname@example.org once your child is registered for the workshop to ensure they receive pertinent Zoom information. Participants should not register unless they are able to attend all 4 sessions (sessions will not be recorded so live participation is required to learn the material). Participants will be sent Zoom information a day before the first session. Registered participants who miss the first session may lose their spot in the program. This session will NOT be recorded, nor are participants required to turn on their video (although it is strongly recommended for active class participation!) Participants will need access to WIFI and a laptop/computer and the class will be held through Zoom. Fifteen minutes prior to the class, please ensure your system’s audio is working properly. If interested, you can download or find out more information on Zoom software here. Online etiquette is expected and participants who interfere with the instructors’ presentation may be removed from the class.
