Today: Chasing Wonder: Backyard Astronomy with Smart Telescopes at King Lib.
Ever look up at the night sky and wanted to see more than just a few stars? Ever want to see the large nebula in Orion’s sword, or the Andromeda galaxy? With the new revolution in telescopes, you can easily explore deep sky objects in the Milky Way and hundreds of galaxies in our nearby universe. The new generation of telescopes, so called Smart Telescopes, opens the night sky to you in minutes without the need to become an astronomer. Smart Telescope enable you to discover what’s up in the sky, they make it simple to select objects for observation, and then automatically produce high quality astrophotography images.
Gone are the days of long learning curves for amateur astronomy. Smart telescopes build high resolution color images of deep sky objects, such as nebulas, globular clusters, galaxies, and more, right on your phone or tablet. It is easy, quick, and fun to see detailed deep sky objects images being created right before your eyes.
This presentation will give you an unbiased comparison the various smart telescopes currently on the market. We provide a live demonstration on how easy these scopes are to use. You will learn what to look for in choosing a smart telescope to purchase. Images from each type of smart telescope are presented for contrast and comparison. We also provide some basics Astronomy skills to get you started a new hobby: what’s there to see, how to search for objects in any given night, and more.
