$15 Gets You 26 Classic Sci Fi and Fantasy Books and Audiobooks

Humble Bundle is selling a mix of 26 ebooks and audiobooks for $15.

Humble values the bundle at $318.  I recommend the bundle because the books range from elementary (My Teach Fried My Brains) to adult (Robert Asimov’s Robot Visions).
Click here to purchase the Humble SciFi Fantasy bundle.
With summer approaching fast, this could be a great way to keep kids interested in reading.  Also audio books are FANTASTIC for travel. My family listens to audio books whenever we travel. For example, the Artemis Fowl audiobook is 5+ hours long.  And that is just book one of a seven book series. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone  is 8+ hours and A Wrinkle in Time is 6+ hours.
You can listen to a sample of Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter or Wrinkle in Time on Amazon.com.  Just click on the link above and then press Audible Sample under the book image.
Amazon is giving away 2 FREE audiobooks with a 30 day free trial of Audible.com.

This opportunity is for high school Juniors and Seniors, and also college students.  The event is free but registration is required.

Introducing Maker Faire’s first Industry, Career, and College Day, Friday, May 18 from 9am-1pm at San Mateo Event Center. Hosted in partnership with Cornell University College of Engineering, the event is designed to give high school and university students, makers, hobbyists, and enthusiasts an opportunity to explore career paths, education, and job opportunities related to making.

The program will include a rich lineup of speakers sharing stories of their journeys and visions of the future of the industry. In partnership with Cornell Engineering, a select number of students will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas onstage for a chance to win a special advantage in the Cornell Cup, Cornell’s college-level embedded design competition.

Attendees will require a separate FRIDAY@MakerFaire ticket to enter Maker Faire Bay Area in the afternoon. This is optional and not mandatory to attend ICC.

Win a Copy of Win Disney Books’ Adventurers Guild and Percy Jackson Coloring Book

My family loves to read. Whether it be a paperback, hardback, audio book, Wattpad, ebook, magazine, newspaper or whatever. Sometimes even a cereal box. One of my favorite memories is four of us at a table in a restaurant, absolute silence as I read a paperback, my daughter on her kindle, my son on his phone and my husband on a tablet.

I am pleased to give away a copy of Disney Books’s The Adventurers Guild by Zack Loran Clark and Nick Elipulos and a copy of The Percy Jackson Coloring Book with artwork by Keith Robinson.   Click here to Enter!

Action for Healthy Kids has announced a new Parents for Healthy Kids grant for the 2018-2019 school year designed for parents and parent-groups (e.g. PTAs, PTOs) to lead school-based physical activity and nutrition initiatives and to engage more parents in student and family health.

If your school or group has ever thought of starting a school garden, getting kids to eat more fruits and veggies at lunch, or finding ways to ensure their kids get more physical activity in and get the wiggles out during the school day so they can better focus in class, then this grant opportunity is for them. In addition to providing schools with needed funding (grants up to $1,000), AFHK provides schools technical support and resources to activate their grants.  Deadline to apply for a grant is April 6.  Click here for an application and more information.
